Game 6: OSU 16 Purdue 3
Wow, that was not fun to watch! I'm glad I didn't make the drive over to C-bus for that mess! Painter has now lead the offense on 9 consecutive touchdown-less quarters. He MUST be engaged to Joe Tiller's daughter because Joe is still sticking with him like he's family. Heck, Joe ripped Drew Brees more than he does Painter and Drew was GOOD!!!
Have fun at Northwestern next weekend, I'm heading to Texas to watch Missouri at UT.

Game 5: Penn State
Oktoberfest 2008
After a frustrating trip to South Bend last weekend the Boilermakers welcome the #6 Nittany Lions of Penn State to town this weekend. Penn State comes in riding a 5 game winning streak and brings an explosive offense and devastating defense with them. To give you a frame of reference, Penn State is in the top 15 nationally in all offensive and defensive categories. The Boilers will have to be on top of their game to knock down JoPa’s juggernaut.
We will be celebrating our annual Oktoberfest tailgate this week complete with German Oktoberfest beer and men in lederhosen.
In keeping with the theme we will be serving a full spread of German delicacies including bratwurst, sauerkraut, pretzels, and of course Sue’s deep fried krautballs.
The itinerary below reflects the overall plan for the weekend, which includes a golf outing that a few of us are planning for Friday afternoon. The important game and tailgate information is listed further down.
We will plan on meeting in the W lot on Saturday morning, hopefully towards the front of the lot just like last year. The W lot is indicated in green on the map below. We have the large flagpole that extends to 20 feet, so hopefully you will be able to locate us easily.

When we are done golfing we’ll head back over to the fall house for dinner; I’ll plan to fire up the grill out back to cook up some burgers or something.

Game 4: Purdue 21 ND 38 (2-2)
Well at least now we know what to expect from this team, they're not going to be that good. I would be shocked if we can win more that 3 games in the Big Ten at this point. The offense put up yards but failed to score twice while inside the ND 15.
The defense completely disappeared in the third quarter which really sealed the loss. My favorite postgame quote from Brock Spack is that he felt the D was "flat" in the third quarter and he didn't know why. Hey Brock, that's why the University pays you a sizable paycheck, you better figure it out!! I'm starting to figure out why Morgan thought it was necessary to go outside the current coaching staff to find the next head coach.

Game 4 - At Notre Dame
Road Trip!
This week we make our first road trip of the year to Notre Dame. I am sure that the Domers will be welcoming us with open arms! This year’s version of the Fighting Irish appears to be much improved; at 2-1 they’ve already nearly equaled their 3 wins from 2007! The Boilers have shown that they can be brilliant in stretches, but this week will require a complete 4 quarter effort; I just hope Curtis has it in him! ND is a rivalry and a trophy game, so bring your cheering voice to root those Boilers on to victory!
We have people coming from all directions, but we need to meet up at some point to exchange tickets and hopefully hoist a few drinks together. After consulting several sources we have decided to park in the White Lot north of Campus. I can’t say I’m really thrilled about this, as it will require a 30 minute walk to get to the stadium, but it seems to be the best bet. With any luck we’ll run into my favorite Domer “Super Fans” while tailgating up there:
These two are the best known example of the genus "dorkus malorkus." I mean, you know these guys think they look cool, but that girl is thinking "I would NEVER be seen on a date with these tools."
Regarding the tailgate plan, please remember that we won’t have the tent, flag pole, large table, or hearse that we normally have. This also means that we don’t have all of our usual tools for tailgating, so this is going to a bit like “roughing it” compared to our normal standards. We will be driving the Honda Element with Purdo96 plates and I will attach a helium mylar balloon to the car to help find us. (I’ll try to get a football shaped balloon.)
For those of you that need to meet up to pick up tickets but do not plan to tailgate, we will plan to be at the stadium 30 minutes before the game. We will need to use the phone list below to coordinate but generally speaking let’s plan to meet on the north side of the stadium. Remember, if you’re calling me I’m half deaf and probably won’t answer on the first try so try others on the list!
