Game 2

Just Do It Boilers!

Last week’s game was clearly the first of the season, as the Boilers won but in less than convincing fashion. It has been said that teams make their biggest improvements between the first and second games, let’s hope that’s true in Purdue’s case as we welcome the #16 Oregon Ducks to town. I hope you will all be ready to cheer because this game could define the season for the Boilers. This is also Joe Tiller’s first crack at passing Jack Mollenkompf for the most wins by a football coach in Purdue history.

Oregon brings with them the distinction of being the “house school” for Nike. Phil Knight (founder of Nike) is the most famous Oregon alum and donates tons of cash and treats the Oregon University athletic department like his personal hobby. Their locker room and facilities are better than most professional teams, but since it isn’t an NCAA violation it’s all fair. In honor of our guests our menu them will be “Just Do It” yourself sandwiches.

Being the Nike house school also means that the Duck’s are on the forefront of Nike’s attempt to move uniform style “into the future.” It is anyone’s guess which combination of uniform (http://static.flickr.com/67/171277505_38ad397e95_b.jpg) the Ducks will be wearing, but you can surely guess that it will be UGLY. My personal favorite feature is the “diamond plate” design on the shoulders and knees.

We will plan on meeting in the W lot on Saturday morning, hopefully towards the front of the lot just like last year. The W lot is across from the Slater Hill as indicated in green on the map below. For those of you parking in the IM lot it is only a 5 minute walk to the W lot, just think of us being on the way to the stadium! We have the hearse and a large flagpole that extends to 20 feet, so hopefully you will be able to locate us easily.
